As a student currently in halls for the 2nd year running (oh the joys) sometimes it's not always the most relaxing atmospheres in the world due to the bland magnolia walls, and outdated furniture it's hard to get comfortable. Especially after a long day of work and uni you just want to sit back and relax... I would say have a bath, but halls don't cater to my everyday needs. (I mean the world you would probably be a better place.. I joke I joke!) I used to find it hard to relax, as I always missed the luxuries from home but I've found the best alternatives until I can go home. Set the mood! Gosh, I probably just made this sound like I'm giving you details for a romantic date. Nope just a night in with myself and Netflix. Anyway... my bedroom in halls have horrific lighting that give me headaches (odd I know) so I invested in numerous fairy lights, and a lava lamp. I'm someone that hates complete darkness so not only does this help my fear of the pitch blackness the colours of the lights are more soothing to my eye. Also while you prep ready for bed light a candle, just make sure you blow it out! My favourite scents are vanilla, as I find it a soft and gentle smell which always brings me to a calm, mellow state of mind. This candle from Primark was perfect for £2 and it lasts beyond 30 hrs worth of different uses!
Mini Foot Spa!
It might just be me, but since moving to a city and walking loads... well I'm used to the shops being up the road rather than dotted all over the place. What can I say Oxford Street is probably the size of my town (okay, maybe not that far). Most of the time I'm dying for a bath just for my feet but this is the next best alternative! Instead of the bath, the best alternative for your feet is a washing up bowl (unless you can afford the fancy foot spa) you can get them anywhere from starting at 99p from the 99p store to £3 total bargain! Then I use the Imperial Leather Pampering Bath Cream, rather than just your ordinary bubble bath because you want something moisturising, and this will not only clean but moisturise your feet leaving them soft. However before hand you need to prep your feet (disgusting probably TMI time) if you have cracked heels or dry feet, a filer is perfect before you soak! Then use a thick moisturiser as the heels of your feet are such a dry place, especially if you're going to use this moisturiser over night this is perfect, just place some socks on as well, as it will help lock more moisture. Take off your face!
Now I have the horrific image of literally ripping my face off and the human flesh underneath.. (bork! I do apologise) Remove your make-up and cleanse and moisturise! I never used to be someone that had a specific skincare routine or even invested in products but ever since I did I've seen a remarkable change to my skin. Just need to give up the fizzy drinks and rubbish food and then my skin should be like a glowing angel. Before you go WOWZA that's alot of products, don't worry I don't use all of these once. These are a variety of products I use for my evening routine as it depends on my mood and what my skin is also feeling like. It's good to switch up you routine so it can make changes rather than you become immune to it. Although the one product I use daily without fail is the Garnier Micellar Water, everybody and their long lost cousin is talking about this and with such positive reviews. I'm not one for make-up wipes anymore as for someone who has sensitive skin I found them dry, unhygienic and uncomfortable. So this is a godsend that it's gentle for my skin, no irritation and hydrates and cleanses my face. In terms of moisturising masks if I'm wanting an intense make-up under and cleanse I use the Nip & Fab Deep Cleansing Fix as it works as a cleanser and a moisturiser. I always love a good two in one product. It's a bonus if you leave this on for 5-10 minutes (you can thank me later). The smell is also divine; the eucalyptus adds a energising feel leaving your skin nourished and awake, which you definitely need after a long day at uni or work. Other products I highly recommend are on a more daily basis is the Soap & Glory Beauty Sleep Accelerator and Quick Fix Facials Mega Moisture Gel. These products are super affordable, and a lighter moisturiser than the Nip & Fab, which makes it suitable for everyday. Wine Down!
Take this how you will, I mean you could settle down with a glass or two but I mean tune everything off. Stop playing on your phone or laptop, try and avoid caffeine before bed and just watch a film or read a book or magazines and slowly drift away till your deep in your sleep counting sheep. Oooh and have some herbal or fruit tea, go for more berry teas then like green or peppermint tea (better for the morning I find). That might just be me though as I love anything sweet. At the minute I'm reading Paris Street Style as it's about a month till I go to Paris so it's important I brush up on my knowledge, I mean I could be reading a dictionary or a phrasebook learning the language would probably be more useful. This just sums me up. Then for Netflix I'm currently religiously watching The Office U.S absolutely in love with Steve Carrell, just half way through.. it makes me sad that it will eventually have to come to an end and I'm going to have to find another program to get hooked to. I hope you enjoyed this post! I'm feeling nice and relaxed now, after following these steps, so goodnight, but for you guys it will be day time.
