Ch-ch-changes to your wardrobe // Winter > Spring

I feel like this is fate in terms of Itunes shuffle, when it syncs to your life moments... As I wrote this post about transitioning and changing your wardrobe to suit different seasons, my man David Bowie Changes come's on. "Ch-ch-Changes". This is an Itunes and Wordpress love story... to be continued.

Anyway moving on.... (as per) as last time I blinked it was the start of winter my favourite time and I was buying in masses for my winter wardrobe, and now it hit me when I was leaving work today, I need to stop buying clothes (in general) for winter as start transitioning to a spring wardrobe. I'm now at the point in my life where I'm starting to learn to save money and not buy everything I would like, so here's how I've transitioned my wardrobe ready for spring.

I used to go on the idea that more is best in your wardrobe, and now I reinforce the idea that quality over quantity. This has made a more positive outlook for my wardrobe and bank balance. Below are my wardrobe essentials at the moment that I can't live without.

Ditch the chunky jumpers for fine and thinner jumpers

Over here in England it will be guaranteed miserable weather till about August, so fine knit jumpers will be a dream to layer over the top of vest tops or dresses without making you over boil in the heat, or shall I say lack of heat.

Ditch the flannel shirts for Gingham and animal print

I love gingham print as a design, but I particularly warm to it for S/S as it reminds me of my summer dresses at primary school, yet the shirt gives it a sophisticated feel, not only that it's a classic and timeless print so if you invest in a gingham print you will be able to wear it time and time again.

When some people say they love animal print I know they mean the leopard print or as in the animals skin.. for me I find that really cheap the design itself and personally find it has to be executed very well on someone for them to pull it off. So why not for a quirky print, like a lions face or butterflies- they're great conversation starters as well as people can't not notice them.

Stripe Stampede

I think everyone and agree with me that they have an obsession with stripes. I don't know what happens, but I have accumulated a lot of stripes over the past year, that's not even all of them, there's 3 in the wash as well. It's such a versatile print that comes in many styles, as you can see the variation in the photo from colour, to texture, weight and finish. Stripes can be a very flattering pattern as well, when done correctly it can even create the illusion of a slimmer figure as it highlights your feature rather than distract. Stripes always remind me of sailors and the nautical style especially for home-ware is hot on trend for Spring.

Loafers 4 lyf xo

I will always be a fine of loafers till the day I die, actually I will be wearing them on my feet even then. Again, if you know me I'm a hoarder of shoes and mixed with my androgynous style I can never not have a pair. From casual to a more jazzy pair.. aka my silver ones it can transform an outfit from day to night. What makes it even more ideal they're uber comfy and such a timeless shoe to invest in.

Ditch the black jeans for them blue jeans *insert Lana Del Rey singing*

It's a sad day when I can't wear my black jeans due to the fact summer will soon be here and my legs will sweltering so start transition to blue jeans. I prefer a light wash, which is going to be ideal and more beneficial for capsule S/S wardrobe to compliment your brighter wardrobe.

... coat that is, I mean if you want a camel maybe you've been located to the wrong blog. Whilst it's still cold to ditch a coat just yet, a camel coat is perfect the universal colour for all seasons I believe. I just need to invest in a trench coat, but this will do now till I find the perfect one.

Blaz(er) in Squad

If your ready to ditch the coat, but still want a cover up blazers are perfect. I adore them to the moon back due to the androgynous style, I really want some burgundy trousers for a nice two piece... maybe inherit the persona of Ron Burgundy. Not only that blazers are the perfect wardrobe staple to jazz up an outfit team it with a skater dress, or shirt and short combo and your ready to go. Just ditch the tailored nip at the waist kind though, you don't want to look like a newbie office worker.. Boyfriend / oversized are the one.
