Struggling to find something to do in London this weekend? I have found the perfect five things for a mixture of different reasons (food, family, art) etc. This is a weekly series I will be doing so stay tuned for next week's bank holiday extravaganza.
Southbank
I was walking down Southbank the other day completely oblivious to the purple cow exterior. I always used to see this advertised on Tv when I was younger so it's a definite thing I had to check out. It has been here since the 9th of April and continues to stay here till the 19th of July.. so you still have a while, but there really is no excuse for you to miss out! Even just go down for the evening for great pop up food and drink (I've got my eye on the hot Ribena)
- This Saturday check out The Best of The Comedy Store show Stars War at Madame Tussauds
Baker Street
(Definitely check out the video to appreciate the dedication to making of the wax figures, especially Chewbacca as he took 800 hours to produce)
If you are a fan of Stars Wars or simply want to have your chance to have dinner with George Clooney (and by that I mean sit down with is wax words for 60 seconds at a table, then have your photo taken) .. sounds like the dream world! The new exhibition takes up two floors of Madame Tussauds and brings 16 characters from the film, and life like scenery of the film.. so this weekend you can tell your friends you were hanging out with Yoda and George Clooney all in the same day!
Borough High Street (The Crypt, Southwark)
10:30 - 6pm
A fan of photography and art but want to escape the crowded masses from this weekend's galleries and museums, then this will be perfect.
This years theme of Architectural photography will showcase the best photos from semi professional and amateurs. My favourite thing to look at was the Retro Wall covered in small polaroid images.
Regents Park Road (just before Primrose Hill if you get off a Camden tube station)
This Sunday check out the Primrose Hill May festival for great craft and food stalls! There's fun for all the family which is something quite hard to find, there will be fairground rides for your children to enjoy, face painting and jugglers. There will also be a great selection of vintage items and children clothes as well as art and antiques. So make sure you arrive early so you don't miss out! - 11am Then afterwards you could have a stroll up Primrose Hill itself and settle down to a picnic and some sunbathing.
Trafalgar Square
This Sunday the London Symphony Orchestra will be treating crowds to the delightful sounds of classical music. There will be big screens around the square to ensure you don't miss out. So spend a day strolling the National Gallery and then listen to some classical music. It starts at 6:30pm so make sure you get there early to ensure a great spot!
Hope you enjoyed this post, and if you are visiting London or not have a fab weekend! I would love to know if you get up to any of these activities :)
